Children are exposed to five times more #airpollution during the #schoolrun. Highest level on main roads & near #idling vehicles = stunted lung & brain growth😱

They generate the vast majority of trips. Why should the 8% who live on 'main' roads get more and more of that traffic pushed onto them?
LondonLivingStreets Unbelievable how this group continues to support LTNs that displace traffic onto residential roads where poorer people & ⬆️% of BAME people live, take buses, & attend school. The reality of the classist & racist impacts of LTNs is the creation of killing streets. Social Environmental Justice
LondonLivingStreets We cannot agree with this ask. What you are effectively saying is that the 'main' roads should take everybody's traffic despite side road residents being responsible for generating the big majority of it.

the council on this, a number of councillors were gloating; still not forgiven. I remember my daughter who doesn’t have asthma had to be nebulised. Damien Egan changed it slightly as we were suffering. A number of MPs walked to A205 to see for themselves 🥲

It needs to go. Make your money another way.

A segregation-only approach means defending high traffic & all its impacts.
London Green Party Zoë Garbett As an environmentalist how can you support LTNs.? They gridlock red routes, increasing pollution, slowing buses. Asthma rates increased across my borough, Lewisham, in the LTN’s wake. Lewisham resident clean air campaigner Rosamund Adoo-KD CBE FBSA calls them a lung apartheid.
Carlton Reid WIRED When I write about our lived experience of the LTN - traffic displaced onto our road, increased asthma across our borough affecting 2 members of our car-free household, delays to our buses, my son’s journey to SEN school I get blocked, mocked, blacklisted. Funny that.
Helena Horton There is certainly a difference in approach. While Carlos Moreno | IAE-Paris Sorbonne points out these are not just traffic schemes in Paris, with a cross-section of measures including protecting local shops, in the UK they are precisely that and no more.
We are naturalising warehouse retail here.
What did anyone expect? Living Streets feign care for blind/partially sighted people/those with limited mobility. In reality, they, LCC, & @sustrans are mouthpieces for able bodied cyclists, who just want to improve their Strava times on our roads! Social Environmental Justice
Black, Asian minority ethnic groups are disproportionately affected when LTNs relocate traffic to main roads & Red Routes, yet their voices and lived experiences are not part of the LTN review.
Why wasn't Rosamund Adoo-KD CBE FBSA selected by DfT for the Ipsos interviews? Runnymede Trust
@HaringeyCouncil When will this come to an end!!
This is our #WallofBuses we’ve suffered for 20 months now.

What happened to making sure blind and disabled people can walk and travel safely?
He has been ignoring disability campaigners as far back as 1.05.2019 (pictured here):
University of Westminster - Rachel Aldred team - surveying peds & cyclists in Brixton. Have they been asked to shore up the Brixton Hill LTN? A study found the 4% net reduction only possible because 2 rds had big reductions. Most, incl within the LTN, had an increase in traffic.
