Bus use has increased in scenic parts of Wales, with the T6 between Swansea and Brecon up 14% and the T10 through Eryri rising 11.7%. The wider TrawsCymru network also saw growth, which ministers link to upgraded buses and half-term travel. gov.wales/outdoor-advent…

Whilst buses in London are struggling with falling passengers it seems odd TfL are choosing to cut routes serving major new housing developments where a good service would be expected to generate ridership. Will this increase walking & cycling or car ownership, use and emissions?

With the thinnest of evidence of the actual safety benefits of floating bus stops, Sec. of State Heidi Alexander MP relies on “improving the perception of safety” to excuse excluding disabled people from their bus services. Their real fears are ignored.

Stuck on a bus in traffic Hackney Council manufactured congestion again this morning. LTNs take traffic from rds that cause high levels of private vehicle usage & put it on our bus routes. So wrong!

12:30 and the 38 is going at a snail’s pace along The Islington side of Balls Pond Rd. And Caroline Russell thinks LTNs don’t cause any problems. Maybe not for her. But for bus users & drivers they do!!!

DAVID LAWES Caroline Russell I had a good chat with a 38 bus driver today. In addition to Balls Pond Rd, in this part of London, Graham Rd causes delays & stress. People wanting to get if the bus between stops is just one consequence of buses standing still. But Mayor of Hackney & her cabinet deny any problem

Transport for All The launch event failed to let anyone question the Transport Committee on the report, which is a pretty appalling. Not allowing disabled people the opportunity to hold the Transport Committee to account was wrong. The report failed to address the issue of floating bus stops.

This is a brilliant initiative that TfL and Train Operating Companies should adopt. Reinstating ticket offices with this technology would improve accessibility, break down language barriers for tourists, and provide clear, real-time support during travel disruptions. 🚉🚇♿️

Clair Caroline Russell Don’t get on the 43 or 141 unless you are retired! The diversion at Moorgate adds 40 minutes to the journey. Why? Kings street has a cycle lane so can no longer take two lanes of traffic and the building works. Real world consequences of this nonsense.

Festus AKINBUSOYE (@festakinbusoye) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Surely, there's a law that makes daft ideas like floating bus stops illegal! How can sticking a two-way cycle lane right next to a bus stop and pavement not a health hazard to all? Just look at this awful situation. I wonder if this is Chiswick High Street. Disaster!

Howard Griffiths ☀️ (@howardgriffiths) 's Twitter Profile Photo

These floating cycle lanes between bus stops & SAFE PAVEMENTS are extremely dangerous for sighted able bodied pedestrians alighting buses. Why were the experiences of BLIND PEOPLE not respected when planning these floating cycle lanes? 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

Vincent Stops (@vincentstops) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Some have suggested the person taking this video or a random stranger should help Andrew cross this cycle track. The point is he doesn’t want help. He want’s his right to travel independently like everyone else. (UN Convention on the Rights of Disabled People, Article 9).

Clair (@indiehackney) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Vincent Stops As a society we should be supporting independence not creating barriers to it. I am not blind or partially sighted and would also fear crossing that stretch. Designs for the least able among us are designs for everyone!
