LTN increase congestion and worsen the status quo!

Mums For Lungs PLEASE help protect children on sacrificial roads. I’m a mum, grandmother and retired nursery/primary teacher and know that all children matter. Re-routing traffic from select roads to other roads solves nothing and increases health inequalities. This is environmental injustice!

Last week as many schools started back, local roads were noticeably busier but still clearing- buses were moving.

Next week as #dulwich independent schools return.. these roads will grind to standstill during #schoolrun hours.

If Southwark Council had conducted baseline & ongoing pollution monitoring for LTNs you may've been able to make a compelling case. As it is, main rds are more polluted thanks to displacement from LTNs, journeys elongated, congestion increased. Clean Air For All Dulwich Croxted Clean Air too

Many UK children have stunted lung growth due to the dirty air they breathe as they live, travel, learn & play on/near busy roads.

This is the response from LAS about the junction in Dulwich Village.

LAS didn't meet with Southwark until 1 Feb, *after* the consultation closed on 17 Jan.

Local residents had no idea that the LAS forced Southwark to make this a trial.

A trial closure that will cost £1.5m.

The loss of 7 parking spaces outside the shops in DV is significant. Southwark also has moved and reduced disabled parking bays too. Shops here have reduced opening hours, or have had to close. Southwark has ignored businesses who have asked for support.
