I'm not one for first person pieces, but the Streatham Wells LTN has had such a negative impact on so many that I gave it a go... bit.ly/4chuyXc

Pure comedy gold. In order to escape the gridlock on the main road caused by the LTN, the bus is forced to divert through the LTN!

It’s undeniable surely that LTNs are a regressive policy advocated by middle-class academics, pushed by middle-class lobbyists, defended by middle-class journalists, imposed by middle-class politicians for their own benefit and that of fellow middle-class residents.

Jesmond LTN in Newcastle is to be removed. Council said that, though the LTN had met many of its objectives, its data showed some residents experienced congestion and lengthened journey times. Local businesses also told them it had impacted their trade.

Hard to believe the UK covid emergency response was to divert traffic from quiet side roads into highly polluted areas where people were already at greatest risk.
Even now, councils are still imposing traffic relocation schemes and calling it climate action.

When you close a section of the road and make people go via a diversion. Sounds like an LTN? bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-…

Gary Kearney neil b Flick Williams John Stewart Well here's my thoughts on a bus bypass on Chalk Farm Road in Camden, a design seen everywhere. Absolute lack of thought other than around separating cyclists.

Yet another school feeling the impact of the ridiculous Streatham Wells LTN. This time it’s Woodmansterne school, which is 2.5 miles away from the Streatham Wells LTN. “More pollution and having an adverse impact on our community” the newsletter states.

Went back to Park Lane floating bus stops in London. They are still not working. Riders are not stopping at the zebra crossings, bus shelters are separate from the bus stops & the island platform is too narrow for people waiting for & getting off bus. They are not fit for purpose

LTNs - the issue that won't go away. We know the Government is conducting 2 reviews into them and here is the London Mayor being questioned about delays to buses in Streatham (since the recent LTN went in). Worth a watch.

This is a super useful video explaining how bus controllers use iBus to curtail buses to fill gaps and avoid route delays. It means you can’t just look at avg bus times, you also have to look at curtailment data. Curtailment is when a bus terminates early and turns around.
