Another shattered castor wheel casing after meeting one too many rubbish dropped kerbs with a lip 🤬 Saving grace was that it happened locally so made it home by going backwards to get around lack of steering. More expense ❗️But at least now I have a back up chair #DisabledLife
Our chameleon like bus stop bypass has changed again. It has lost its zebras making the tactiles the correct colour, but now there is no requirement for cyclists to give way to pedestrians. Look at the angles, the lowered kerb without tactile paving 😱 All just a #DesignDisaster
Dear candidates David Skaith Keane Duncan for Mayor Felicity Cunliffe-Lister for the N Yorks mayoral election, please outline your position on bus stop bypasses (floating stops) if elected. ⬇️you will find the party positions for London vote, where disabled people feel they are tried, tested & FAIL
Decision session 16.4.24 seeks to approve an ETO for 5 new Blue Badge bays without time limit - but only 3 can be accessed during foot street hours. The 2 on Davygate only available after 5pm & revert to loading bays am. York Labour are trying but for context York has >7,500 BBH
Dear City of York Council, you know those bollards you are so fond of, perhaps you could put one where it will actually be useful like the end of Piccadilly where I witnessed a double decker bus cut the corner & drive across the already broken tactile tiles that move in places ?
Probably thinks it doesn’t count if your tires aren’t on it, just your bumper over hanging. But has clearly driven across the tactiles to get there & each time that happens the closer we get to more broken, uneven, wobbly tactile paving at yet another crossing.😤 #PavementParking
A meeting today to discuss materials & surfaces for Station Gateway scheme, which in all honesty feels rather like discussing which lipstick 💄 to put on a pig 🐷 & shouldn’t be necessary as all major schemes like this should employ an Access Consultant as standard. #AccessFail
This project properly engaged with the disabled community by hiring an Access Consultant who ran an accessible consultation & the developers listened & improved access still further. Helmsley Group showing how it can be done 👏👏👍
Some good news on Good Friday ! The heavy door on the Silver St accessible toilet has finally been replaced (yesterday afternoon) and is now re-opened & perhaps even better, work has begun on installing a new Changing Places UK next door which will open soon. Progress ! 👏
Disabled residents of Queen St. having lost their parking are now subject to queuing, idling, diverted traffic outside their homes, with the predictable result that they are throwing in the towel. More family homes turning into Air BnBs. Who will be next ?

Oh dear, First York It appears you are not learning from the many settlements already paid out to wheelchair users unlawfully prevented from travelling. Expect to hear more about it at the next Bus Enhanced Partnership from the York Disability Rights Forum representative.
