Ending service charge abuse ultimately requires bringing the archaic and iniquitous leasehold system to an end.

With the Tories having failed to do so, ministers must at least act now to protect leaseholders and shared owners from the excessive demands so many are being served.

This is the debate in the House of Lords on the extension of the ban on leasehold to include flats and introducing Commomhold. Very poor response from the Government which delivers nothing. ☹️

Commonhold = Freehold .. both come with covenants, easements, charges, taxes etc most importantly neither = leasehold = tenancy agreement
