The Conservative party is moving even further to the right. For the Guardian, we recently wrote about what the Tories could learn from the Netherlands and why such a strategy will only further strengthen the far right (within or outside the Tories)

Disability benefit cuts that are expected to affect more than 450,000 people by 2029 will only lead to 15,400 more people finding paid work, according to official forecasts

That's about three percent of the number of people affected.

Agree with this evaluation. What the Conservatives are planning to do here is a fantasy for most RR parties in Europe. The end for this government can’t come quickly enough.

Just disgusting behaviour. Using a tazer on a person who is handcuffed, lying on the ground while being knelt on, and not even visibly resisting.

In the middle of a University campus.

American police are brutal, violent, and out of control. Something we already knew, of course.

It is worth watching this CNN video from the moment Emory Econ Professor Caroline Fohlin came across the violent arrest of a protester on campus and asked the police, with shock, 'What are you doing?' That's all that prompted an officer to hurl her to the ground and handcuff her.

Labour's announcement on railways looks smart to me. Huge support among loyal Labour voters of course, but also high levels of support among those swapping to Lab from the Cons

(majority supp in all groups even the loyal Cons so not an easy policy to attack to keep loyal voters)

This is a huge setback for anyone who believes in the rule of law. Its implications for our constitution can’t be overstated.

But I promise you, this isn’t over yet. We are not going to abandon refugees without a fight.

Refugees welcome here always ✊🧡

Your periodic reminder that England, a windswept nation with more potential for onshore wind power than almost anywhere else in the world (other than Scotland), banned new onshore wind farms in 2017.

In Britain, women are more undecided than men about their vote choice. Why?

In our new BJPIR article, Rosalind Shorrocks and I find this is partly explained by gender gaps in:

i) political engagement
ii) perceptions of representation
iii) conflict

43% of all sporting green space to golf, and 18% of all green space allocated to golf does not strike me as optimal green space allocation in a city of 10M where perhaps 1% of ppl play golf regularly - from this excellent long read on London' 'golfbelt' golfbelt.russellcurtis.co.uk

Hey, , I need your help. Can you point me to studies that used access to information as a research method? They can be from any field, but preferably political science, sociology, and communication. I am aware of the studies below:
