This green garden is said to overlay the former Llys (court) of Llywelyn ap Gruffud (Llywelyn the Last). It is unknown if one wall of the building was incorporated into the wall but at ground level it is the only section of wall to have window seats. #MedievalMonday

This evening’s view from the Ffordd Ddu (the black road) #Meirionnydd overlooking the Mawddach Estuary. The light was fantastically crisp and blue with sparkly motes - or perhaps that was just my eyes

These decorated slate pieces are something of a tradition in the Dyffryn Ogwen area, although we do have records of examples from other areas in the Slate Landscape.

Capel Garmon Burial Chamber Tombs of this type belong to an archaeological grouping called ‘Cotswold-Severn’ after the area in which they are generally found, so Capel Garmon’s unusual position so far north remains a mystery.

Twin chambers were formed by hollowing out the ground beneath a massive glacial erratic, which subsequently split sometime in the past.
