Boris Johnson said in 2004 that he would eat his ID at a polling station in protest if the law ever required it.

In 2022, he passed a law requiring ID to vote and dismissed criticism it would stop people voting.

In 2024, he forgot his ID when trying to vote and was turned away.

Frost features in How They Broke Britain. As an example of the promotion of pitiful mediocrity; as the tool of a post-Brexit media ecosystem entirely detached from observable reality & as proof of the prediction that the people who screwed the U.K. will try to blame anyone else.

So both main parties immediately reject EU’s proposal for a youth mobility scheme.
What a state we’re in.
Slamming doors in our own faces because better opportunities and closer cooperation with our own continent isn’t brexity enough.
What a stupid little place they’ve made us.

A government trying to put into law the right for it to disregard international and domestic law.

As red flags go… it’s huge and very red and being waved right in our faces.

James O'Brien Another Tory MP who is currently fuming about the far right event being closed down, Andrea Jenkyns, wanted to shut down free speech and lock people up. Funny how their tune changes, isn’t it?

“Without listening to experts, the govt will seriously damage business confidence in the UK and add costs to a consumer’s weekly shop”
Gove said they’d had enough of experts.
No surprise then that replacing expertise with Tory sovereignty has proved to be so stupid and expensive.

So, govt is paying £500+million to send maybe nobody to Rwanda, in planes they can’t charter, to live in houses that have been sold off, which will deter no one from trying to come to the UK. And Sunak is threatening to leave the ECHR if they can’t do this.
Totally fucking nuts.

The Tory MPs who support leaving the ECHR are *exactly* the sort of politicians that the ECHR was set up to keep in check. The ones who can’t govern and become increasingly fascistic in the face of their own failure. Make a note of who they are and get them out of power for good.

Pitiful, dog-whistling Sunak would leave the ECHR - and join only Belarus and Russia - to deport people to Rwanda if necessary. Staggeringly dangerous for us to have a govt that would remove human rights protection for all of us to secure their own fascistic power.
Grim as fuck.

It is quite extraordinary to watch all these Tories, client journalists & prominent 'Brexiters' queueing up to moan about the consequences of getting every single thing they thought they wanted for fourteen bloody years.

None of these people ever give the vaguest impression of having gone into politics to improve any life but their own. The competition to be ever more performatively cruel about refugees is literally all they have left. The Faragification of the Tory party is surely complete.

This is incredible and should not be lost in all the other news. This person holds
one of the most senior jobs in government and he lied about saying this. He now apologises. 1. Saying it at all is a reflection on what this government think of the rest of this country. 2. Lying…

Trough-resident Boris Johnson putting a social responsibility spin on Tory inheritance tax cuts is revoltingly dishonest. This isn’t some benevolent govt move to help our young people, it’s another gift to the already very wealthy, given on the back of sanctions on the poorest.

Those wanting to leave the ECHR say our own govt and domestic law would protect us.

2 things:
1) the ECHR was set up to protect citizens from human rights abuses by THEIR OWN govts
2) our govt has already removed our FoM rights and limited our rights to strike, protest and vote.

A BRITISH court rules against the Rwanda plan because Rwanda isn’t safe for asylum-seekers.
The Tory far-right loons go nuts.
Sunak announces he will legislate to declare Rwanda is safe and a foreign court can’t stop him, so there.
What intensely stupid performative nonsense.

I don't know why Nick Robinson thinks this is extraordinary. We all knew. I was documenting this in weekly - often daily - in The Week In Tory at the time. The only extraordinary thing here is the utter failure of mainstream journalism to hold him to account when it mattered.

Boris Johnson unsurprisingly joins GB News

He should be speaking to the police, not a TV camera, after all he's done to this country

Watch Partygate on Channel 4 catch up if you haven't already.

& the on You Tube

Just to remind yourself what they've done😡

Bobby Charlton saw close friends die at Munich. He helped lead Manchester United's recovery to become English, then European champions. For decades the club's record goal and appearance holder, he was a World Cup winner and European player of the year too. What a life. RIP.
