Phyllonorycter lautella emerged in the shed recently, from leaf-mines on seedling oaks collected at Parc Slip NR in the autumn. It wasn't very compliant and my photo doesn't do justice to its metallic splendour. #MothsMatter
Scarce Prominent (Odontosia carmelita) Co. Donegal. Friday night was cold (car was covered in ice) so only a few moths, but several species I don't get at home, including this one, which always looks a little frosty. #moths #moths matter Ulster Wildlife BC Northern Ireland Butterfly Conservation π¦
Emperor Moth (Saturnia pavonia) - N. Antrim - April 2024. An increase in numbers this week of these stunning moths, especially where there is shelter from the northerly winds. #moths #moths matter BC Northern Ireland Ulster Wildlife Butterfly Conservation π¦
Grey Birch (Aethalura punctulata) - Co. Donegal - April 2024. The last of the species seen at the weekend, which I don't get in the woods at home. #moths #moths matter #teammoth BC Northern Ireland Ulster Wildlife Butterfly Conservation π¦

The lovely little micro-moth Incurvaria masculella, photo taken by my son because it was on my glasses where I couldnβt see it. Meanwhile my daughter explained the ID features of a Robin on our walk to school. Feel like their education is progressing well! #mothsmatter
