First you spot a little weevil … and then you see them everywhere, making merry with the Hollyhocks. Aspidapion radiolus, about 3mm long and rather hairy.

It’s a #FencePostWildlife doubler. A Phratora vulgatissima (Blue Willow Beetle) pair enjoying the view.

We have this huge Groundsel for #WildflowerHour this evening. Found growing on a local pavement.

It’s been a busy bird day in the garden. Blackbirds, Starlings, Blue Tits, Jays and Robins dashing about with beaks of food. It’s the first day that we’ve seen the young Robins, which by now are probably able to find their own food. Please excuse the dodgy pic.

Here’s a little bug seen a couple of weeks ago. One of the Scolopostethus species we think, but we know not which one.

Another member of the #FencePostWildlife community. A tiny red mite of around 1mm long. An Anystis species we think. The two that we saw were on adjacent posts, the first trying to look scary, and the second having a dipteran snack.

Both Jays have been busily visiting the monkey nut feeder over the last few days. We suspect they may have some young ones to feed.

This Berberis Sawfly, Arge berberidis, pitched up on one of our Foxgloves on Saturday. It’s still there today, having moved barely 5cm since it arrived.

We now know for certain who has been digging in our pots. No doubt looking for beetle larvae.

No Cowslips, but we did see these in a local car park.
Common Sow-thistle, Ivy-leaved Toadflax, Rue-leaved Saxifrage and Oxford Ragwort.

What a gorgeous creature the Rose Chafer is, shining like a precious jewel in the afternoon sun. A welcome visitor to our garden.

Helpful clarification for MPs who signed the recent letter requesting NE’s advice on barbastelle bats be overruled, including my MP Jerome Mayhew MP.

The legal goalposts have not, as some Norfolk County Council councillors suggest, been moved. NCC has been advised of the bats for 10 years.

Interesting! 15/04/23 and 14/04/24. Same roof, though couldn’t be sure that it’s the same Carrion Crow and Heron. I’d like to think so.
