Our last species for #NationalMammalWeek is - the common seal!
Despite its name, the common (or harbour) seal is the rarer of NI's two seal species. To tell them apart from the grey seal, look for the common seal’s smaller head, round face, cat-like features & v-shaped nostrils
🪺Nesting birds, their active nests, eggs & dependent young are protected by law. Its a crime to disturb, kill or injure them.
🐦Please remember most birds nest in Spring/Summer.

For Day 2 of #NationalMammalWeek we’re celebrating our only native lagomorph, the Irish hare. At this time of year you might be lucky enough to spot them 'boxing' in fields, & we've already had sightings of leverets!
