An exciting morning with Mark Cubitt!
One Brindled Ochre (Dasypolia templi) in six traps set among rocky scree in the Lammermuirs.
A long wished-for moth for me, last recorded in East Lothian in 1928, by Alice Balfour.
Where else might they be lurking?

Tissue (Triphosa dubitata) overwintering in a mine in West Lothian, where it has been since last September.

One of SIX that Mark Cubitt and I found yesterday on a Tissue-tastic end of season count. Good numbers for Scotland!

Report from two nights light-trapping in NR78 Knapdale, Argyll. Low figures for August - more on that later. But visitors included this mouse moth (Amphipyra tragopoginis) - first record for the hectad according to Mark Cubitt's maps at eastscotland-butterflies.org.uk/mothflighttimeโ€ฆ. /1

Katty Baird BC Glasgow & South-West Scotland ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿฆ‹ Mark Cubitt BC Scotland Butterfly Conservation ๐Ÿฆ‹ British Moths That's really interesting stuff Katty Baird! A species I've only seen once in an unlikely location, with this individual near my trap on Handa in August 2018. It was a county first and I think a first for the Scottish islands.
