'It is to be hoped that the Committee’s report and recommendations will act as a catalyst encouraging greater awareness of the need for advocacy for shared owners’ best interests, and a joined-up approach between regulators, and other bodies, to deliver this.'

In the context of the Angela Rayner saga…

Has anyone checked where Esther is registered to vote?

And what about Geoffrey Cox — Boris Johnson’s attorney general?

As far as I know, he lives in the Caribbean

Matthew Pennycook MP The question is whether The Labour Party has the commitment or is this the beginning of a massive U-turn due to giving in to freehold lobby?

Matthew Pennycook MP So leaving aside the 100 days thing, will a Bill be in the manifesto?

And please define 'default'. It suggests other options will still be available, like leasehold, if developers simply select them. Which obviously they would, so nothing may change.

Matthew Pennycook MP Will Labour commit to making any 'emergency' amendments to the Tory bill, such as your amendments to impose a duty on the SoS to set the rates as to make enfranchisement cheaper? And proper redress for those missold unconscionable, onerous GRs?

Matthew Pennycook MP Matthew these are people life’s on the line! I’ve already sold everything I own and now I’ve had to stop my pension contributions just to cover the buildings insurance which increased 700%. We need more than just your words on social media! Please publish an official response.

Matthew Pennycook MP Seriously tired of the constant rowing back. And I am not alone.

Many shared owners face losing their homes *right now*.

In London the GLA has ignored shared owners. If that's the blueprint, we know Labour is not on our side.

Today I recieved a service charge demand for £6200

My service charge doubled due to costs involved in registering our building to the Building Safety Regulator in accordance with BSA 2022

Thanks Michael Gove Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities I can no longer afford to live in my home 👏

Odd that no one is talking building standards or consumer protection. Leasehold reform won’t work and the market in flats won’t revive till this is tackled too.

James Frith John M Free Leaseholders Emilio Casalicchio Encouraging to read. I believe Matthew Pennycook MP is right. Change needs to go beyond Law Commission. I believe he cares. But understand our anxiety post disappointments of current Bill, bottling ground rent reform + memories of Labour’s 2002 betrayal. Little trust or time left.

Emilio Casalicchio Exactly this. The Labour Party are taking leasehold votes for granted. They clearly think they have a supermajority in the bag and don’t need us. But there are plenty of alternatives if they don't want to prioritise us and think we will vote for yet more warm words. Wrong.

You had to be on drugs to believe the 100 days pledge meant instant legislation and that the entrenched leasehold system would’ve been overturned in that time.

But it was a signal of intent.

That this agenda was up there with the Future of Work and Take Back Control bills.
