I spent a week as a Deliveroo rider. And learnt a lot.
First up, Deliveroo likes to claim you should earn at least the minimum wage of £11.44 while working. Me?
I worked for 22hrs 50mins, rode 105 miles, did 27 drop offs and earned £120.38.
That works out at £5.28 an hour🧵

Fascinating piece on Reform UK's unusual structure by Rafe Uddin

Nigel Farage insists he's not a politician — but within the rightwing populist party, he's kingmaker... Company fillings show he owns a 53% share!

Snap Holyrood election looking like an increasing possibility... If my calculations are right, even if Tory motion of no confidence also backed by Labour and Greens, they might need one more vote - that of former SNP leadership contender and now Alba Party MSP Ash Regan

I have hired a lot of these young people who've gone through this 'totalitarian indoctrination' and have found them to be thoughtful, pragmatic and hardworking. If they herald a dark age, sign me up for the Dark Age of Diligence.

Exactly this.
I didn't know how much I would like Frank Field before I met him. We worked on many stories together over the years. I was in awe of his laser vision for solving problems & getting things done.
He was fabulous to disagree with, and also just really, really kind.

Ofcom's weakness exposes the rot at the heart of media regulation and ownership in the UK.

A new Government should make regulatory reform of (both newspaper and broadcast) ownership and news output balance rules a priority.

To make matters worse, when briefing the press the government said that this would 'only' cost £4.4 billion in 2028/29. That assumes a baseline of 2.3% of GDP and so is inconsistent with the £75 billion number. They're just picking whichever baseline suits best.

A £250 cap on ground rents is a win.

It means leaseholders can sell up and get on with their lives.

20 years to peppercorn is not ideal, but if The Labour Party Angela Rayner 🌹 Matthew Pennycook MP wish to make a counter-offer, leaseholders and journos will be all ears. insidehousing.co.uk/news/continuat…
