So I'm a day behind the ball (in my defence I was attending a conference), but the Zoonomia papers came out. I had the privilege of reading the papers before hand and discussing them with Carl Zimmer. I just want to make some further comments in this 🧵.

New from me: the government says it has found evidence of collusion in the H-1B lottery process, where a small group of unnamed companies worked together to submit multiple lottery entries for the same person with the goal of driving up their chances wsj.com/articles/u-s-s…

We updated our database and now list 385 postdoc fellowship opportunities (w/ description, deadline, amount, eligibility, etc).

Getting one means a lot more freedom to do the work you want to do.

2 years ago, everything was going great in my mid-career lab.

Making a choice to reduce stress and prioritize my health turned out to have ripple effects - my colleagues, family, and friends are reaping the benefits, as am I.

I tell my story in eLife - the journal

Shreyas Doshi Maybe.

Although it’s worth pointing out that many people reading the original tweet may not enjoy certain levels of privilege

And yet your sentiment remains completely valid yet in albeit a slightly more nuanced way.

I treated many really sick Covid-19 patients today.

All wanted to get vaccinated but didn’t know how to navigate appointments, transportation. Might sound easy, but for many, it’s not.

Expanding eligibility doesn’t always mean accessibility, especially for the most vulnerable.

It's popular to use the US as a punching bag these days, but I can't think of many other countries where the work of an untrained 27-year-old immigrant can garner the attention & respect of researchers and public alike.

America isn't perfect, but I'm grateful to call it my home.

How has Israel managed to vaccinate so many people so quickly? A thread on how (1) ample supplies, (2) targeted campaigns, (3) logistics, (4) digital technologies, (5) flexibility, and (6) universal healthcare w an element of competition helped them get ahead of everyone else.
