With the local elections taking place this week, here's a reminder that voters will need to bring ID that matches their name on their ballot paper, which isn't as straight forward as it sounds for everyone

Ben Houchen does not like people posting this.

So whatever you do don't repost it in the week Ben Houchen is trying to be elected as Tees Valley Mayor

The reason the UK will have the lowest growth in the G7 next year is Brexit. We're not going to reverse the decline until we begin to remove the barriers - economic, social, scientific - that we chose to erect with the rest of our continent. That's not rocket science. Just say it

I'm RTing .Chris Packham telling dinosaur that he won't find evidence of climate change in 's daily septic; it comes from something called science —as so-called champion of Young has pressured .BBC iPlayer into REMOVING the episode.

Lord David Frost “negotiated” the most disadvantageous trade deal in our history. Now, tilting at windmills of his own imagination, he wants to double down on the philosophy and policies that have self-evidently failed us. He is, literally, preposterous. telegraph.co.uk/politics/2024/…

Tees Valley people — please listen to a man who has proved his commitment to the area for many years and reject Houchen who has been good at PR for himself but has flogged your land and your future to his pals in a way that benefits them more than you.

Steve Gibson, owner of Middlesbrough FC, and Paul Booth, former chair of SABIC UK, former members of the board that founded Teesworks, call Ben Houchen “totally incompetent” and call for a deal struck three months after they were sacked to be renegotiated: on.ft.com/4aQopjX

It’s not a “jibe”, it’s a statement of fact.

Name another European country that requires legislation to declare a country safe.

Oh deary me! Truro and Falmouth MP Cherilyn Mackrory MP repeats industry propaganda dumped sewage is 95% water & the general public are confused.

Challenge Mrs Mackrory: Drink 1 glass of that 95% rainwater from a CSO I choose and I'll donate £1,000 to a charity you choose. (2/4)

Brexit is so relentlessly shit.
But the political effort that goes in to pretending it isn’t is such an obnoxious waste of everyone’s time, resources and patience.
It is a fundamentally dishonest project and denying its damage just makes the damage worse.

(Good letter, Times)

The final results of my poll are in. 3572 voted, and 98% are against the plan. I know that my twitter is an echo chamber of like minded folk, but this poll was retweeted 906 times, I thought the ‘for’ vote would be higher.

Excellent blog, summarising the seemingly cynical flaws in Ofcom's research. When GBNews began, I gave Ofcom the benefit of the doubt. I was wrong. It's clearly not fit for purpose.
