Activists will end up trying all sorts of things, including things that are increasingly unpopular. What are they supposed to do? It's no good people shouting from the sidelines 'you should do X'. They've done X, Y, Z, etc. Nothing has worked. Democracy has failed.
Sociology Clippings! This past week we saw media coverage Dana R Fisher, PhD (on sky, threads, etc) in Climate Connections on climate change, Tressie McMillan Cottom in The New York Times on O.J. Simpson, Apryl Williams on dating site algorithms and race, Pamela Prickett & Stefan Timmermans🥑 on their new book, & more.

There has been a spate of climate protests in art galleries in recent years. In a new paper, Alexander Araya López & I consider why activists are drawn to these spaces, and what makes these protests so provocative.

After all, in 2019 we had the biggest demo, the best coverage, and huge public support in Germany, & still nothing got done.
I had a great conversation with Steven Starr from Extinction Rebellion Los Angeles about climate activism and Saving Ourselves —just in time for everything to get spicy.
Tune in here:

My conversation with Dr. Mustafa Santiago Ali 🇧🇷 🇪🇹 🇵🇷🇯🇲🤙🏾 about Saving Ourselves from our event at Politics and Prose in DC is up online: youtube.com/watch?v=gJg3Ub…
Highlight from last week's trip to California. Thanks to
Isaias Hernandez Kevin J. Patel Adam Conover
and so many others for the inspiring conversations!
Just wrapped the California leg of the #SavingOurselves book tour with this amazing event at the Commonwealth Club! Big thanks to Daniel Aldana Cohen Annie Leonard Rebecca Solnit for coming out!
BIG NEWS: The CA Supreme Court just accepted our Center for Biological Diversity case challenging CA's regressive rooftop solar rollbacks.
This case has major implications for distributed solar nationwide and its enormous potential to fight the #climateemergency .
