Look man, there is only 'a risk of irreparable harm to the Palestinian right to be protected from genocide' if someone is plausibly threatening that right.

'Germany supports EU proposal to reduce emissions by 90 percent by 2040' - is this the same German government that is trying its best to let the transport sector continue to emit at about the same level as in 1990?

Brilliant. Italian TV satirical programme organises an all-female roundtable to discuss 'SUVs and male impotence', in response to the (non-satirical) programme that featured an all-male panel to discuss abortion

In case you are wondering if the police officer has been reprimanded for what he did to this professor.

No. The professor has been charged with battery against the police officer.

Few people are interested in hearing news from a foreign country that is overall normal, but slightly dysfunctional in its own peculiar ways. Many more want to feel confirmed in their prejudices and national sense of self-worth vis-a-vis other (mostly imagined) countries

Astonishing chart from John Burn-Murdoch- on.ft.com/49OMvdz The UK is brilliant at handling immigration, relatively.

Could be a huge strength in the decades ahead

As an academic from Turkey who has a PhD from the US & has been working in Germany for 8 years I can say that the struggle for academic freedom is a global issue. No country is a safe heaven. So our best bet would be to unite our forces in calling for freedom of expression.

The funny thing is that many of those who celebrate Greece as a success story are those who throw a fit at the mention of the word 'degrowth'. Probably works in reverse too

This is great.

For other countries, there are 2 ways of looking at this though.

Glass half full: eventually high EV sales + fleet turnover makes a dent in emissions

Glass half empty: you need to do what NO did, for years, before you get there & most countries are *far away*

Italians like to argue that their low incomes explain why they buy so electric vehicles. But their low incomes don't stop them from having the highest motorisation rate in the EU...
