And for those who aren't currently disabled by some thing, you need to know, you're at risk of becoming disabled. Your current ability isn't guaranteed.

Why not do things that increase the chances of maintaining if not improving your current ability?

Measles has entered the county where I work in the hospital, I’m medically unable to get a booster for this, and I am extremely pissed at everyone who has politicized vaccines and destroyed the herd immunity we had for over a half century in less than a year

I want to be on the record as saying my dad woke up this morn & went into shock from a new COVID infection that was dxd in ER.

He has been in Jefferson Health since 4pm. THEY ARE REFUSING TO TREAT HIM. WE ASKED FOR PAXLOVID AT 4pm. THEY JUST HUNG UP ON HIS INTERNIST!

'... mostly white and some organizers couldn’t answer my question clearly about whether my mobility device would be taken from me by the cops if I was arrested... it’s 2024 and people are still going “Oh we forgot” about disability.'

quote from Katherine Wolf's essay: 'the authors betrayed disabled advocates by amending the bill less than 81 hours before passage to replace every instance of “voluntary” and “unlocked” with language allowing forced treatment.'

Hi!

Public air is shared.

40-60% of SARS-CoV-2 infections spread during pre-symptom / asymptomatic phases. You can have it, not know it, & infect multiple people.

There’s nothing self-involved about community care. That’s why selfish people aren’t doing it.

Hope this helps!

This is why disabled patients are screaming that we don’t have safe access to healthcare. Seeing a nurse in an N95 doesn’t cause confusion - it causes confidence. I’m thrilled whenever a healthcare worker chooses to protect me. Sadly it doesn’t happen often anymore.

I see experts using this logic to excuse bad CDC guidelines. What they miss:

1️⃣ Behavioral science suggests weak guidelines make it LESS likely people will test or mask

2️⃣ Guidelines affect policy, this makes it LESS likely govs increase sick leave & give out free masks/tests

Reminder. There was one hospice in BC that tried to hold their ground and not have euthanasia on their premises.
The BC Govt ended their service agreement.

BC NDP fails disabled people again.

It's shameful that public health institutions are fixated on weakening guidelines for people who are ignoring the pandemic, while doing nothing to meaningfully address one of the most important public health problems today: Higher risk people being excluded from society.

CDC guidance doesn't just impact people's behavior. It also impacts POLICY, both state paid COVID sick leave and employers and schools policies regarding people going back to work.

CDC guidance ending 5 day COVID isolation means that LESS PEOPLE WILL BE ABLE TO STAY HOME SICK.

I’d like to wish a very Fuck You to landlords who say “no pets” because how’re you gonna charge $10 per sq ft, never do repairs, AND not allow us to keep our lil companions that make existence worthwhile?

COVID has 10x-50x higher prevalence than flu and RSV combined during PEAK flu season. And flu actually goes away almost completely for the rest of the year, but COVID never does, as we've seen.

COVID is far more dangerous, and everywhere always.

Comparing them is a fallacy.

y’all’s “loved ones” will straight up tell u they’re scared of covid and y’all’ll be like “haha this makes a good tweet” instead of thinking critically about why elders even feel this way & what u can do to help them (like, um, practice covid safety)

If you live in California and are planning to voting in the primary in the next few days read this op-ed by Katherine Wolf on Prop 1 which will force houseless people into institutions, a return of asylums
