This is a major issue for a lot of people, and not even consultants. Essentially impossible to take on additional work if you have young children. No one is going to pay to turn up to work with a marginal tax rate well well >100%

Hang on a second, this is absolutely unbelievable You can’t retake the MSRA in subsequent applications? This score was 8th centile Yet you need top 25%+ to get an interview for anaesthetics? Who on earth thinks MSRA is the correct test in the first place

This is sadly not that uncommon, sometimes the first person who tells someone they are dying is me as I discuss limits of care and ICU admission (or not). We have to be honest with patients, ignoring reality helps no one.
