An amazing photo of the *Grimes Graves Venus* in situ from the 1939 dig ๐คฉ #Findsfriday
Sadly, seems to have been a fraud, perhaps intended to confirm a #Palaeolithic date for the #Neolithic flint mines ๐๐
Grime's Graves on BBC Look East yesterday eve, Dickon Whitewood and Robin Sullivan from EH interviewed, and Jennifer Wexler, Dr Jennifer Wexler live on the show from inside the flint mine! Here's the programme, wind forwards to 18:29 in bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodโฆ
Dr Jennifer Wexler ITV Anglia were there too but I can't find their piece on their local evening show so I'm not sure when it's going out. There was an interesting bit about the band Dr Feelgood though - 10 mins in: itv.com/watch/news/catโฆ Dan Herbert
โThe people shout in triumph, and with Boadicea at their head, they march away.โ
Whatever the faults of this Victorian book illustration, I love the epic drama of it & the towering figure of Boudica rousing her army to battle. Be epic this #BoudicaFriday .

Reminded of this & still think it's valid:
What if miniature shields, cauldrons etc (like this shield from Netherhampton hoard - BM1998,0401.20, left) were made from pieces of bigger shields & cauldrons (like Chiseldon, BM2007,8034.100, 3rd pic)?

The 'Rusland Menhir', an standing stone outlier in the southern Lake District ๐คฉ. With no other visible archaeology around, its age remains a mystery. However, there is a small mound / cairn underneath it, suggesting it may be prehistoric #archaeology #travel #lakedistrict
