At the British Museum for the second day of the Palaeolithic Mesolithic Meeting 2024. It is just so good to be here in person with everyone. We've missed this.

Euston Fire Station. Slightly gothic feel, great early-20th century typeface. If you were scouting for a location for a British Ghostbusters film, this wouldn't be a bad place to start. 'To whom would one place a call?'

The tip of what would have been a very elegant and symmetrical Moustetian scraper. Made over 50,000 years ago in a stunning red jasper. Lost or discarded in the cave of La Cotte de St Brelade, where a hearth fire consumed and fractured the tool.

The reason why there was an open letter - because the whole discussion around the rights and wrongs of the tunnel (... and the archaeology) is skewed...

John Adams, chair of Stonehenge Alliance: 'If Stonehenge were to be delisted [by Unesco as a World Heritage Site] it would be an international embarrassment'
No it wouldn't, it'd be an indication that Unesco had lost its way. This article is misleading 1/2

🌤️For April’s challenge of ‘nature’ we found this photograph taken during a LSS visit to sunny Boxgrove in Sussex in 1985.

Outdoor activities have been a key part of the LSS and we continue to hold events outside when we can (weather dependent!)
