If you’re wondering how climate scientists connect climate change to individual extreme weather events, or whether climate change contributed to the flooding in Dubai, read this!

.Andrew Dessler's article here perfectly encapsulates my own views on cloud seeding, both with respect to the record-shattering rainfall in UAE/ this week and generally (as I discussed in yesterday's YouTube conversation). I've included a snapshot of the key takeaway below:

with all of the discussion of cloud seeding going on, I've written something on The Climate Brink about what it is and why it's probably not responsible for the Dubai floods.

This 1 minute video of me debunking the “cloud seeding caused the Dubai floods” has been watched by humans cumulatively for 56 days so far. It’s still a tiny fraction of the time people spent watching the original misinformation.

For every degree C that Earth’s atmospheric temperature rises, the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere can increase by about 7%.

A warmer world is a one with heavier precipitation events, even in places where average rainfall may remain unchanged. carbonbrief.org/explainer-what…

Nice article from Scott Dance on why it's not likely to be cloud seeding ...

This technology didn’t cause Dubai’s floods, scientists say. Here’s why. wapo.st/3UhBi0p

Texas should just declare that it's mission is to have the lowest cost, cleanest, and most reliable electricity on the planet. Build the crap out of the grid - transmission and distribution. Stop pitting fossil fuels against renewables and nuclear against everyone. Just build…

'How the insurance market, in collusion with State government, is using smoke and mirrors to push onto the general public — i.e., you and me'...

This is a spot-on intro by Andrew Dessler to a very interesting post by Susan Crawford... read on!

People have been trying cloud seeding here in Texas for decades. NM just passed a bill to try it. But Andy says, 'Cloud seeding is one of the most dubious practices in meteorology and it's often a scam that takes advantage of desperate people.'

US citizens have paid nearly a billion dollars since 2018 simply to replenish the sand lost to storms and 'erosion' (aka sea level rise) in Florida — quite aside from the billions in Federal disaster relief they've also given the state.

Nearly every climate denial argument I’ve ever heard falls into one of these five categories.

1 - it’s not real
2 - it’s not us
3 - it’s not bad
4 - it’s too hard/costly to fix
5 - it’s too late

And you know which is growing the fastest these days? The last one 😳
