Those protesters got it wrong! We want to end the system of oppression and discrimination against palestinians and replace it with systems of equality and self determination which isn't the same as calling to burn cities! Time for sensible people to take away the Palestinian

The Rwanda bill passed.

Very few asylum seekers will ever be sent there, but this morning, thousands of homeless men, women & children who came to us with nothing & asked for help but we left in limbo, have fear hanging over them of violent deportation to a dictatorship

To be completely honestly man only 2 out of 10 dentists recommended this toothpaste but they both have quite esoteric taste and are always early on things that later become cult classics

So the Rwanda bill becomes law, with Britain now an inspiration to the extreme right in Europe while undermining the rule of law at home.
Legislating that Ruanda is a safe country after the Supreme Court stated it is not, remains a dangerous precedent.

Only consolation in any of this is that the Rwanda policy is doomed to failure. Like Brexit the government will now make complete fools of themselves as they try to make it happen and if it wasn't set to cause so much misery and disgrace I'd be tempted to put the popcorn on.

Aside from the moral and practical vacuity of the Rwanda policy, one thing it illustrates - as we have been saying for years - is that the delays and shortages in the justice system could be fixed if the government cared to.

When they want to spend money on courts, they find it.

Lord Anderson of Ipswich (Crossbench), 'We are in the end game now'

'The benefits of the Rwanda bill remain to be seen'

'It's costs will be measured not only in money but in principles debased'

'Disregard for our international committmments'

'Avoiding statutory protections

dag Could it be argued that the Conservatives' manifesto for the 2019 General Election gives the Lords a mandate to block the Rwanda Bill and it is the government that is breaking a manifesto promise?

Sure... if that talk involves Fox giving 24/7 coverage to make absolutely sure its viewers understand Republicans want to strip them of these entitlements so the money can be spent on tax cuts for the rich.

The US has got to get the hell over the idea that the cruelest solution is always the most effective. It's *babyish.*

My wife says I'm 'condescending', but she pronounces it 'condense-sending'. I can't correct her because that would be condescending, you see. It's killing me.

The intention here is clearly to get the Met commissioner fired for one cop’s altercation with Gideon Falter, and I’m mostly just thinking … did you see what Cressida Dick got away with? theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/a…
