Absolutely ! Weak, naive, but also destructive. Look at what they've done to Local Radio, the News Channel, Newsnight , Hard Talk ...the list goes on. You might expect that the BBC Board would hold them to account on behalf of Licence Fee payers but it seems they're equally weak.

Spot on NUJ's Paul Siegert. The BBC already had a network in England with shows and presenters appealing directly to older audiences. But they chose to dismiss most of them and replaced their shows with poorly targeted shared content. The network's name? BBC Local Radio.

RadioToday UK The narrative here is very supportive of JH. Doubt that listeners to 'linear' Local Radio would agree Apparently he's "a strong supporter" of "locally focussed output" ! Difficult to reconcile with major cuts to such output leaving programming increasingly Regional or National.

What’s worse is that managers who consistently fail get promoted. The leaders of @bbc LR have decimated that important public service and what happens ? Promotion. That’s what happens. If they had been in commercial radio they would have been fired years ago.

This! A lot is made, rightly, of BBC LR providing companionship, but Davie et al are also blind to its importance in scrutiny, local democracy, holding power to account, community cohesion and frankly as a last bastion of trust in the BBC
