The NLC Facebook group is inundated with desperate leaseholders trapped in homes they can't sell due to onerous ground rents because the government FAILED to bring in a Ground Rent Cap. ⚠️THE BILL FAILS THEM⚠️ Leaseholders now face more uncertainty. @luhc Keir Starmer

i dont want the kids in my life to be carted off to war or bullied into a volunteering scheme, i want them to be able to afford housing, university, food etc, to be able to access medical care, to not live on a planet burnt out by greed of a few. doesn’t feel like too much to ask

£8,000 a year is £666 a month. On top of mortgage, bills, daily living expenses and potentially ground rent too. That’s not affordable for the vast majority of people. Greater control and transparency of service charges is desperately needed.

Unimaginably horrific scenes in Rafah last night. An Israeli airstrike hit tents housing displaced Palestinians, slaughtering men, women and children. Israel's blatant defiance of the International Court of Justice must be met with action – starting with a ban on arms sales.

Great to see Liberal Democrats taking the lead to help Leaseholders by "Abolishing residential leaseholds & capping ground rents to a nominal fee,so that everyone has control over their property" Ed Davey Daisy Cooper MP 🔶 Kath Pinnock 🔶💙 #Manifesto #GeneralElection Leasehold Knowledge #Housing

Private school is around 10 THOUSAND A TERM. You CANNOT "make a few sacrifices"/"work hard" and have a spare THIRTY THOUSAND A YEAR <per child!> It is a complete myth and I cannot stand to hear it ONE MORE TIME. It's not "normal families working hard" and "prioritising education"

George Reid (@reid1892) 's Twitter Profile Photo

“I’m an average working parent from London and I send my child to private school. We’re going to be priced out because we have to send our child to state school”. So you’re not the average working parent then? #skydebate

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't stamp duty up to £300k already zero. Why does Rishi keep saying that upping it to £450k will help young first time buyers. In my constituency the idea a young first time buyer is buying a house over £300k is well .... Out of touch

Zo (@zoeio) 's Twitter Profile Photo

And those saying “it’s only £4-5k a term” that’s still £10k+ a year. With all the will and “hard work” in the world I couldn’t afford that. Doesn’t mean I don’t have aspirations for my child.

Lottie’s thread captures many of my own feelings after selling our leasehold flat in 2023. The relief, the sadness, the hope, the pain. Wondering if we will ever recover mentally and financially. So pleased for her but angry there are millions still out there with no way forward

As another HPL building goes up in flames, a reminder that this did not come as a surprise. With the right political will, tough enforcement and building owners who really cared about safety, these blocks would have been made safe years ago insidehousing.co.uk/news/next-gren…

Tom Swarbrick 'Thousands of people's lives are on hold and you have a minister who can't answer a simple question... It's just not good enough.' An emotional caller Marita, who owns a property with unsafe cladding, lambasts the Building Safety Minister for dodging Tom Swarbrick's questions.

Would like to know why Moat thinks it’s acceptable to leave my elderly registered disabled dad in a property with no hot water or heating for the past week. He was told today when asked when it would be fixed “how long is a piece of string”. Completely negligent.

New properties just aren’t fit for purpose and there is no accessible recourse when things go wrong. New build buyers need to be warned there are no consumer rights.

Shoutout to all the Brexiteers who wanted control over borders and fishing but have fucked over thousand of small UK businesses like mine who now can’t ship within the EU and NI anymore due to GPSR.

I can't survive the pressure I'm under I've been bullied into court by my warranty provider and if I lose I'm liable for costs Keir Starmer's office is pushing paper whilst Angela Rayner "monitors the situation" yet demonstrably misunderstands it I just wanted a home😢
