Our disabled adult son has lost 3 similar-age disabled friends to covid, plus another under-30 family friend. Devastated.

We haven't told him about his multiple other friends in their 50s-60s--including two of his school staff-- who dropped dead from cardiac arrests and strokes.

It’s remarkable how much restraint was shown by police when Nazis gathered in Charlottesville and when insurrectionists attacked the Capitol… and how little restraint is being shown to peaceful protests by students all over the country right now.

When we see public grief & anger, we must listen & ask:

What is the source of lament?
What is being grieved?
And when is it harmful?

In these photos, what’s the difference between them? Aren’t they all just freely expressing their anger? ➡️

Manufactured lethargy is the problem.

Let’s say, hypothetically, you happen to find yourself in a situation where for some reason you do not know every health condition of every person around you, and you also for some reason wish to behave as if you care about protecting other people from potential harm:

For those who think they can choose to not “do sick”… sickness comes for everyone. Health is a temporary state. You can accept this & join disabled people in advocating for a kinder more inclusive world - or you can ignore us until it happens to you. By then it’ll be too late.

We’ve truly lost our way. As more & more people become disabled I’m certain we will continue to see a rise in homelessness…. Because we don’t have adequate safety nets or affordable housing. Criminalization is NOT the answer. Neither is euthanasia (which is Canada’s approach)
