We do need a review into the disability welfare system.

But that review should be on why so many people who are eligible don't claim, the dehumanising assessment process, why many are left in poverty, and how it can be changed to make sure disabled folk are supported properly.

Single biggest thing government could do to reduce number of economically inactive people who are long-term sick is sort out our mental health services.

Two million people in England are on NHS mental health waiting lists. theguardian.com/politics/2024/…

They are protected after birth by the Equality Act 2010.

Before birth, a pregnant woman has the right to ask for an abortion under Section E of the Abortion Act.

There were 24 late term abortions last year. This is 0.01% of all abortions.

This is about reproductive choices.

Eyes-wide open brutality:

' 'We recognise that this recommendation will result in fewer low-income people being eligible'...the briefing says, adding that some higher-income people will gain access to them.'

Every part of this Chance UK report is alarming but the most shocking statistic:

“97% of those excluded at
Primary school had a special educational need or disability (SEND)”

Irrefutable evidence of how badly Department for Education is failing children with , right from the off

@Tomorrow'sMPs They need to make up their minds!

We were criticised for not making target contacts (in seat we knew was safe & won with 50%+) & wilfully ignored that we cllrs & ward activists campaigned in Thetford & other marginal targets

They pick & choose depending on who they want rid of

Another reason why we want to scrap the Carer's Allowance earnings limit. Without it, carers wouldn't be punished for minor mistakes like this, and it would no longer limit carers' ability to work the hours they want to. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-687743…

Important journalism from my colleagues this week Patrick Butler Josh Halliday et al who have uncovered the scandalous prosecution of unpaid carers.

Now Rishi Sunak is under pressure from former DWP secretaries to launch an inquiry 👇

My eyes have been opened to NDSPG exploiting people with Down's syndrome in a gross attempt to justify their draconian misogyny without actually consulting those they claim to represent.

I’m proud to have had a role in training Early Years Professionals (Foundation degree&EYPS) to work in , even tho the Gove DFE strangled the funding stream as soon as they could. This is clear evidence that *we* were right. theguardian.com/education/2024…

As a “working class leftie,” I can tell Wes that lining the pockets of private health firms isn’t just ideologically flawed - it’s inefficient too. Many private staff are NHS moonlighters. Some even share facilities. Fund the NHS, not big business. theguardian.com/politics/2024/…
