Corruption undermines democracy and slows down development.

🇬🇧 is fighting corruption around the world and today we're sanctioning those involved in theft from some of the poorest communities in Uganda.

The UK’s second meeting as a member of this important Horn of Africa regional trade initiative - the meeting focussed on energy access and trade facilitation, important for our mutual prosperity. I flagged 🇬🇧 commitment to working in partnership on regional trade integration.

Today the UK has pledged £100 million to help hundreds of thousands of Ethiopians as the humanitarian crisis in the country worsens.

This vital assistance will support people facing the devastating impacts of climate change, conflict and disease outbreaks.

One year today since RSF/SAF’s war started, bringing death & displacement to millions of 🇸🇩 people. Today friends of 🇸🇩 showed their solidarity with aid pledges + renewed determination to end this conflict. 🇬🇧aid has doubled and we have announced new sanctions #SudanOneYearOn

As Somalia’s debt relief champion, the 🇬🇧 congratulates Hassan Sheikh Mohamud & his government on reaching the Completion Point under the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries Initiative.
