A *very* early start this morning to get from Boston to Hartford CT in time for a morning of meetings. Left feeling very impressed by the potential for even deeper UK-Connecticut cooperation on insurance, and by Hartford’s wonderful murals.

We will never forget the images that unfolded on September 11th 2001, the lives lost, or the work of courageous first responders that terrible day. Today, we join our American friends and those families - British, American and others who lost loved ones - in remembering them all.

While I was looking for coffee pods in the residence, I found this collection of singles in a forgotten drawer. I think the Consul General’s parties at the residence in 1980s would have rocked 🕺

This was one of my favourite evenings in Boston so far. Slightly in awe of all the imagination and drive behind the three shortlisted projects. Huge congratulations to everyone involved in making this event such a success. Looking forward to next year already.

I’m glad that President Trump is safe, after the shocking reports overnight. There is absolutely no place for political violence, and the U.K. condemns it in the strongest possible terms.
