Extreme earners are not extremely smart 📣 doi.org/10.1093/esr/jc… Work with @arnoutvanderijt and @thijs_bol shows that the relationship btw ability & wage is strong but plateaus at high incomes: ⚡️Top wages are not indicative of top cognitive ability

1/Months in the making, here's the final cut of my story on the long-awaited wealth transfer, no longer in the future tense: We're closer to 2053 than 1992. Elites are already disbursing to heirs while alive. The masses likely need luck or a paradigm shift nytimes.com/2023/05/14/bus…

There are details to quibble with in this The New York Times story, and the documentation is not what it should be. That said, this is an illuminating and worrisome synopsis of the state of #wealth #inequality in the United States. nytimes.com/2023/05/14/bus…

Robert Solow: “I’m glad there is no Milton Friedman anywhere [...] today. Milton Friedmans are bad for economics and bad for society. Fruitless debates with talented (near-)extremists waste a lot of everyone’s time that could have been spent more constructively.”

Enough people have brought up Michael Sandel's The Tyranny of Merit that I thought I should actually read it rather than assume I knew what it said. Unfortunately it lived up to all my assumptions, even coming in a bit below expectations. My review. goodreads.com/review/show/62…
