I have been made aware of a major risk factor some people have that makes COVID a more serious risk for them than for others. As far as I know, there has not been a systematic study to quantify this risk, nor been any public health attempt to warn this group. /2

hold me gently
like the last
rays of sunset

whose soft radiance
tastes like the afterglow
of love

not much
is left of me
on these alleys

where forgot
how to dance

your hands are leaves
& your voice is water

& I'll catch your name
with my breath

Losing consciousness, stroke-like symptoms, seizures - Carla who has v.severe MECFS & orthostatic intolerance needs urgent help, instead Drs ignore experts, cause suffering with light & sound & cancel referrals. This MUST change NOW @rcphysicians Patient Safety Commissioner

The ME community is on its knees because every week we have the trauma of another young woman being medically abused at the hands of the NHS, who is supposed to protect them. Every week we have to fight for the lives of our peers. When will this end?

I spoke earlier today with The Guardian's George Monbiot about his recent scathing column on a 'national scandal'--the longstanding mistreatment of those with the illness (or cluster of illnesses) currently known as ME/CFS. Thanks George Monbiot!

Read this .

I remember what healthcare did to Katie. Because it's horrible. Because it's torture. And it happens. It happens a lot.

This is not seizure-like; it’s an actual seizure! Clonic activity is clear, marking a neurological emergency. Simple, basic interventions can suppress this activity, which every neurologist is trained for. Where is your neurologist? West Middlesex University Hospital You’re committing a crime!

Doing harmful things to someone's body without their consent is abuse. The fact that this happens in hospitals and by healthcare professionals doesn't suddenly make it not abusive. On the contrary, it's a very specific form of abuse.

Again, I've seen doctors who don't treat LC say that seizures aren't part of MECFS.
They are, and they are common.
I had seizures even in my sleep for 2 weeks in hospital.

My nervous system could't take the stress of the hospital environment and its response was to seize.

Every person I know with ME is *terrified* of having to go to hospital, precisely because of what is happening to Carla right now, and what has happened to far too many others. NHS hospitals NEED to follow NICE guidelines before more people die

Just over 3 years ago I was discharged from a 7 month hospital stay where I was repeatedly and deliberately pushed to unconsciousness, made to faint on a tilt table several times a week, had the lights switched on and blinds opened when it caused pain

Psychiatry has no place in the treatment of severe ME. V.Severe pwME Carla was supposed to be referred to gastroenterology to get her feeding sorted, now she is suffering beyond belief due to exposure to stimuli after psych took over GMC Royal College of Psychiatrists

Cause at this point being in a hospital is the scariest scenario for (severe) -patients.
Please just believe these patients and their caretakers.
