GMC But it's not good enough is it? A core part of the IEA and politically driven train crash is that *employers* get to set scope of practice. You only need to think for 10 seconds to work out the downstream disaster of that in a broke & understaffed NHS. It's madness.

Behind every report is a consultant failing Too lazy to train doctors Too weak to question PA “Ambassadors” Too arrogant to realise that their position is solely thanks to the support of their forebears Little more than NHS technicians, certainly not members of a profession

PS Yes I saw an article by a law firm which said that if an ANP/ACP/PA is working in the role of a doctor then they will be held to the SAME standard as a doctor in court when things go wrong .

Dr Sandeep Bansal (same username on B Sky) (@idrsunny) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The NHS will be completely PA/ACP/ANP led just like Medicare in the USA To see a doctor you will have to pay out of pocket or pay for private insurance. Those suggesting otherwise are in absolute cope mode

Strike for the single parent who works 60% as a locally employed doctor whilst raising their kids. Or the F2 who helps pay for their disabled parent’s rent. It’s easy to forget that doctors are a much more heterogeneous group than we might think

Dr Sandeep Bansal Clare Gerada has been instrumental in destroying resident dr & GP jobs & escalating undertrained, unsafe roles throughout the NHS. She deserves criminal punishment not access to this type of commentary.

Dr Haseena Wazir I have met all of them, worked with some of them And i doubt any are under 65, with most well into their 70s So what they think about industrial action or contracts for doctors in their 20s and 30s is irrelevant their time has now gone and it is not their future

Jen Johnston (@littlepersondoc) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Phil Smith She’s irrelevant. Sold out her profession. Now passing comment on something she cannot relate to. Her generation has caused the mess we are now trying to fix. Best to ignore and move forward.

If I rely on another doctor's reference that someone was competent to do something, and it goes wrong/becomes clear the person might not have been competent, does the legal responsibility flow back to the referee?

Wait, so the GMC’s entire defence is that Tom de la Mare was wrong that GMC hasn’t been doing its job at all. But rather that GMC was doing its job in a really bad, totally unhinged way.

Judge is seeking guidance from counsel on what she can do IF she’s concerned about the absence of reasoning and documentation (duty of candour) from the GMC. Make of that what you will

My main emotion is one of deep, deep embarrassment that we have fallen this far as a profession. Self evidently ridiculous arguments put forward by deceitful zealots to cheat the people out of the medical expertise they pay their NI for. A pox on the GMC!!

We now await the JR ruling. Anaesthetists United could not have engaged a more expert and experienced legal team. Whatever the outcome, to AU’s leaders and supporters and to Mr and Mrs Chesterton, who stood up for the medical profession and for patient safety, thank you
