Having family who have moved to Cornwall, I know how long it takes to get about.

Practically everywhere is about an hour a way.

Having an endoscopy undertaken by an under qualified, unregulated and unsupervised PA, miles from help?! 🤯

That’s a hard no to consent from me. ✋🏼

How can an individual who is not medically qualified be doing invasive unsupervised procedures in the community. This is a danger to partients- no ifs or buts.

Even after getting my CCT, our course organiser told me that it takes at least five years of practise to have the confidence to work as an independent general practitioner.

Anyone who thinks they can do the job of a GP after two years is utterly deluded.

My respect for GPs quadrupled when I worked as FY2 on GP Placement.

This is what I witnessed.

- GPs had excellent knowledge base which was wider than any specialist and they were keeping that up to date with ever changing guidelines and protocols.

The Royal College of Anaesthetists have published their extensive and carefully-designed independently-commissioned survey on AA's.

Main findings - AAs negatively impact doctor training, and expansion is viewed negatively even by those working with them.

These results raise some serious questions, especially association without consent. Govt have created a role, attached it to anaesthetists without their consent, and the majority don't seem to think it works very well. GMC et al have helpfully signed off on it, of course.

Oh wow, RCHT. Not only do you have a PA doing endoscopy, you have them doing independent unsupervised endoscopy in the community … and you printed them all over a van! At least you’re not shy about it, so I see no issues in posting it here.
