Saw someone say, “Stop hoarding books, we don’t need paper books anyway” and I can’t express how misguided this is. Online libraries disappear, digital books can be altered, and with Big Tech seeking to destroy history and literacy, print media has never been more essential.

I feel like in the same way fantasy football changes how you watch the games themselves, standardized testing data changes how you see the classroom. And we have way too many "fantasy football managers" making decisions in education.

I stay away from coaches who claim they produce high level athletes. That’s a misleading perspective. Mom and dad produced those athletes. Coaches are simply guides in their development.

In coaching, one of the biggest mistakes you can make is to decide too early who’s got it and who doesn’t. The reality? We have no idea. Potential is revealed over time. It's incredible hard to predict. And your belief might be the thing that helps it show up.

as an English professor, I’d go as far to say these days I’m excited to see typos & fragments & run on sentences & page-long paragraphs & awkward word choices & any imperfection that suggests a human being sat down to do the very hard thing of writing a college paper.
