These are quite incredible figures. In a lot of ways, it’s hidden poverty - because many pensioners / pre-pensioners will try their best to ‘manage’, but the way older people are treated is a massive stain on our society.

I am in Japan at the moment. Never been before, and it may have always been like this to some extent, but travelling here from Britain 2024 is like visiting a completely different planet. One where everything works and isn’t just completely falling apart or ripping you off.
