Never forget. This man asked people to vote on #Brexit. Without defining what Brexit meant. Without carrying out any projections of consequences. All in an (unsuccessful) attempt to settle an internal Tory party feud. He then knighted all his mates and f***ed off into the sunset.

Last night, for the first time in history, parliament confirmed that a previous PM had deliberately misled Parliament & gave him unprecedented sanctions. Not ONE right wing national newspaper carried that on their front page. THAT'S what's wrong with the UK.

Alex Taylor The problem with so many voters these days is that they approach democracy as consumers believing the customer is always right and they get their money back if it all goes wrong. There is no sense that they need to do their own research or take any responsibility.

It's strange how Suella Braverman says here that 4,000 people have received Windrush compensation when the actual figure is only 1,681 - much lower. The press office says she made a mistake But this was the most important figure for the interview itv.com/news/2023-06-2…

The reason we hear a lot less about the people who drowned in the Med and why there was no expensive search and rescue operation like the one for the missing sub is exactly the same reason why 6 years after Grenfell no one's been arrested. The victims were mainly poor and brown.

JAMES CLEVERLEY - just lied on Sky. Asked why he was not in Parliament for Johnson vote and said he is Foreign Secretary and busy so does not know what was in his diary. We do - it was the Conservativehome summer drinks party - video 47secs #Toriesout350 x.com/mikoh123/statu…

Once again I am begging you to remember that if the base rate goes from 4.5% to 5%, that is *not* a rise of "half a per cent". It is a rise of half a percentage point, and a rise of 11.11% in the interest rate.

The Teeswork Freeport corruption in short. 2 businessmen paid £110 for a £100m site. We paid £462m to clean it up they paid nothing They made £100m selling scrap metal from clean up, we received nothing. Michael Gov won’t investigate because he is in on it. Go to the police.

Her MP's salary should be stopped immediately, and there should be a review to determine if she should pay back previously paid salary. theguardian.com/politics/2023/…

This is extraordinary. She’s prioritising an unhinged temper tantrum over party, constituency & country. In a vaguely normal society, the media would be up in arms. In Brexit Britain, she’s *rewarded* for her idiocy & selfishness by Murdoch & the Mail. bbc.com/news/uk-englan…

I want to slow this discourse down for a moment and be very clear and deliberate about why Armstromg's history of cheating in cycling is important and relevant here, beyond a cheap gotcha. (thread)

‘Cat child didn’t happen, just as Rule, Britannia was not axed. Nor was Cambridge “forced to drop white authors”, or a Muslim bus driver allowed to throw his passengers out so he could pray, or an Iraqi caught with a bomb awarded thousands of pounds’ theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
