Vital journalism exposing how migrant care workers are left trapped in harrowing or abusive situations because their visa arrangements penalise whistleblowing - via The Bureau of Investigative Journalism Vicky Gayle Emiliano Mellino Charles Boutaud hajar shorturl.at/DKUY6

Important article on why recovery & healing from the long term harms of domestic abuse does not tend to follow an orderly timeline. Brilliant advocacy from Melanie Janine Brown MBE. Support may be needed long after a victim-survivor has left the abusive relationship.

I was telling my students about one of my first conferences at Oxford Uni. I was so excited. Only for the white male experts on race to ask where I was from, say how unusual it was for people like me to be so educated, and that I must have some British heritage as I was too fair.

As a senior academic in a leading university, my line manager- a woman professor- complained when I didn't come into work the day after I had my miscarriage, asked me why I wanted more children when I already had one, and she was the poster child for #womeninacademia at this

Police officer: I've been a police officer for over ten years and sometimes when I respond to a domestic call I say to the mother (who is the victim) 'how can you let your children go through this?' Me: How many times in 10 years have a you said to the perpetrating father

Burnout is multifaceted and intersectional. For marginalised people it is also related to exclusions at work and the lack of psychological safety. The juggle of constantly battling to belong alongside holding one's own identity amidst continuous gaslighting and dismissals.

New open access article: Our article examines the degree to which the visibility of children & young people as victim-survivors in their own right could be brought to the fore in perpetrator intervention policy & practice in Australia. 👉🏼 Read here: tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

Have left my three children in London with their dad and am in Italy for a month. I'm working but without the mental load of motherhood, and it is a revelation. I can complete thoughts, sentences, have fresh ideas, and there is no anxiety around unfinished tasks.

I've been involved in a number of PhD vivas now where the questions to be asked have been sent to the student in advance. And now I can't see why we don't always do this. Can't see why we terrorise a student with pre-viva anxiety and guessing games. 1/3

David Abbott @DisabilityStor1 like so many things in academia it’s pointless hazing designed to pass along generational trauma for its own sake

Chuffed to share that I passed my PhD Viva with minor corrections. My thesis was examined by Professors Aisha Gill and Sundhari Anitha so it felt surreal to have a formal chat with them about my research. The word 'excellent' was used arrrghhh!! CRiVA
