The GMC don't want the world to see the responses to the public consultation on PA/AA regulation. Let's release it for them. Request your data by SAR and share en masse. gmc-sar.replit.app #PAProject #ReleaseTheData Peter Stefanovic Carol Vorderman Dr Rachel Clarke

I am getting tired of repeatedly tagging The Royal College of Radiologists & Royal College of Physicians responsible for training of oncologists. Why do PAs skip the lengthy & arduous training to practice ‘like a dr’ when Drs don’t? Either my training was necessary to be a safe oncologist, or it wasn’t? 🤔

While the sentiment is lovely, it is rather unfortunate that patients have left the department thinking they have been anaesthetised by an Anaesthetist… It was in fact an Anaesthetic Associate If patients do not know who is treating them, have they truly consented?

Strongly disagree. An anaesthetic associate is not an anaesthetist and they have not undergone the training a patient is likely to assume when using this title. What on earth has been enabled?

To put this in perspective, any doc doing a similar job would have spent 5 years at medical school, 2 yrs in foundation jobs and then got extensive oncology experience - probably another 3 yrs. How can a PA do this with far less experience and knowledge?

@ispy ExplosiveEnema I anaesthetise people, I’m not an anaesthetist. I’m an Intensivist. ‘Anaesthetist’ is a term used to describe a specific specialist within medicine, with a medical degree and postgraduate training in anaesthetics, following the curriculum of the royal college of anaesthetists.

Julian Hartley NHS Providers The Observer stop burning money on staff who lower productivity and make existing staff less efficient That would be a start. You have Band 8 adverts for PA to do Oncology without training in St Georges- this makes absolutely no sense at all

Look at the difference in pay & experience for a Nurse vs PA 🤯 💷Same band 7 pay 🏥Nurse: At least 5yrs experience specifically in UGI malignancy PA: Straight from Uni 🔭Nurse: Limited role PA: Unlimited role Why do St George's, Epsom and St Helier prioritise PAs over experienced nurses & Drs?

No national standards for supervision of Physician Associates, their scope of practice, or patient consent. No wonder it has been called the PA Scandal. In this short video, Helen Salisbury and Richard Marks explain why.

Forewarned, 🙏🙏🙏 Dr Tony Goldstone, find I’m now sadly forced to drop research PA and really can’t fill any more rota gaps for rest of this tax year. Was only way to avoid calculated massive looming AA tax for extra work, urgent action was needed. Wes Streeting MP

The report into Royal College of Physicians handling of the extraordinary general meeting re physicians assistants out at 1pm today. The King's Fund report expected to be highly critical of RCP and the motivations behind delaying EGM
