Probably my last tweet. When exchanging views with those that are respectful of others' opinions, X has been a great way to learn what was going on in the cladding crisis. The outcome is still messy and there is little more I do to help existing leaseholders still suffering. For

After dealing with a horrible inhumane conservative govt, leaseholders are now dealing with an even worse govt. Please stop this dreadful and insulting clown show Steve Reed. Millions of us are suffering from housing issues which are of your making Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Gov.

So many leaseholders trapped because of govt inaction on abolishing leasehold. This is on you Matthew Pennycook MP. Feels like you’re dooming us to bankruptcy. Steve Reed is too busy with his clown show building crusade.

Alex I post articles on Linkedin, comment on issues in Building magazine and have contributed to Buildings and Cities journal. What I would really like to do is publish commentary in the National press on how the fragmented Building Industry is so badly monitored and regulated by

What is wrong with these people? Honestly. Give Labour anything these days and they’ll make it worse. 🤦‍♀️ theguardian.com/society/2025/o…

f4rrahrocks 🇺🇦 Shared ownership is not a step on the ladder. Most people never staircase as it gets too expensive. The pre-sale RICS surveys are disconnected from actual market value... and not independent. Making shared owners responsible for a 'loss' on shares they don't own is shocking.

Moving Home with Charlie Agreed. And this is why Government mandating RICS valuations to sell shared ownership homes is a massive issue. Because shared owners are liable for any loss if the sale price achieved is lower, not only on their own shares, but also on shares owned by their housing association.

Do you mean the section 106 agreements your members negotiate with councils to ensure leaseholders and shared owners in newbuilds pay for the upkeep of new PUBLIC AMENITIES in perpetuity?

London Renters Union (@ldnrentersunion) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The "affordable homes" targets already let developers off from building the number of social and council homes we need. Slashing these targets further is a major betrayal of low-income Londoners and will certainly accelerate gentrification and displacement.

Good to hear. I hope lease extension changes will also apply to shared owners where the housing association has a short lease. Our housing association is offering 990-year lease extensions to shared owners in blocks they own. Meanwhile, our leases remain unsellable.

Leasehold Hostage (@endleaseholduk) 's Twitter Profile Photo

These lot are abysmal. Holding leaseholders hostage on exploitative lease terms (which includes young families with children) and justifying it by citing charitable causes. You’ve caused the collapse of flat sales, trapping so many in unsellable leases. Please let us move on.

For housing associations, the shared ownership scheme is an inflation-busting income stream. They will lobby to keep it that way. Matthew Pennycook MP guidance is ignored. Non judicial means of redress are ineffective. Many of us were mis-sold. That's not being addressed.

Chris Hinchliff MP Thank you. If you get a chance, please also highlight the shared ownership scandal; it's the worst of leasehold and the worst of renting, combined.
