We report the discovery of convergence of a complex, composite trait through which two species of Nepenthes pitcher plants catapult their prey down the pitcher using rain power.

Everything has a price. Life-history trade-offs are predicted to shape variation across so many traits within species. We should see evidence of evolution resolving these trade-offs at the genetic level, right?
