It’s really important to understand why ableist language is harmful and it’s good to actively try and remove it from your lexicon.

Disabled people have to be nice, polite, demure, respectful, silent, invisible. When we talk back, and do not treat even the crumbs of accessibility with an outpouring of gratitude we are simple denied our rights to move freely.

Back in February when I wrote about how Labour are making disabled people feel like burdens then allowing burden to be a reason for assisted dying I was met with scorn. This is exactly what I was talking about. Absolutely heartbreaking.
