The government have been forced to allow my motion on disability justice to passcalling for:

-End to Means testing

-Increase in Disability and Carers allowance

-Increased PA hours

Govt should beware that disabled people will not let them forget what they have now supported

Young disabled activists are increasingly pointing to the need for radical social change from below.

I read out some of their remarks into the Dáil chamber:

Unfortunately, Govt are not legally obliged to act on my #disabilityjustice motion which passed the Dail yesterday and includes support for an end to means testing. The advantage of getting it passed is it gives campaigners an extra weapon with which to put Govt under pressure.

Still quite shocked at Anne Rabbitte TD's blatant dismissal during our protest. Previous Ministers for Disability incl. Finian McGrath have always tried to engage & acknowledge DPOs and their work. That's their job and a big part of what they're being paid to do. Inexcusable.

This is indeed a mighty tool for the disability rights movement's arsenal to be whipped out many times henceforth! For Gov to acknowledge that disability allowance should be non-means-tested is historic! Thank you for your support Mick Barry TD

Disability activists scrapped the hated Green Paper on Disability Reform. They scrapped the Care referendum. The govt, in accepting our motion on disability justice, should be very careful about making promises they don't intend to keep, they might get themselves scrapped too!
