People deserve equal pay for equal work. Pay discrimination is prohibited by the Human Rights Code, and our communities are stronger when everyone is treated equally. However, too many women in B.C. are still making less than men.

In June 2023, the Pay Equity Tribunal determined that Bluewater Health didn't negotiate fairly. They cancelled the agreed terms and put their own plan for achieving pay equity in place without consulting SEIU Healthcare or staff at their hospitals. #PayEquityNow
CEO Vlad Volodarski and Chartwell have paid their shareholders over $1.3 billion in dividends since 2013, denying tens of thousands of women the access to pay equity they deserve. Chartwell, it’s time to do what’s right. #PayEquityNow
Ontario midwives have battled the Ontario government since 2013, alleging discrimination in compensation on the basis of gender. In 2020, the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal ordered back pay to 2011, in addition to several other remedies. #PayEquityNow
Doug Ford’s government appealed our 2019 Court decision that gave tens of thousands of women access to pay equity. Ford lost that appeal in 2021, and then was denied a 2nd appeal, this time by the Supreme Court. Stop fighting against working women; allow access to #PayEquityNow
