The winds of change are powerful on housing.

From renters reform to ending leasehold, Westminster is failing.

Vested interests are being put before pro-growth, pro-people policies.

Without radical change, the eventual blowback from voters will be devastating.

It is perfectly legitimate for a government to abolish or cap an income that provides no service or benefit to the consumer.

Especially if it was promised in an election manifesto.

The 2025/26 commencement of the Conservatives Leasehold and Freehold Reform Bill means more lives in limbo.

Leaseholders are sick of waiting.

Will The Labour Party quicken commencement, if it forms the next govt?

Will its more radical law come forward in its Second King’s Speech?

It is terrible that vital leasehold reforms are still two years away.

Leaseholders have engaged in all the consultations in good faith.

7 years of waiting for legislation.

It is why The Labour Party must hit the ground running after the GE.

We agree with every word you said.
However; we hear these words over & over again. Michael Gove says exactly the same however; here we are with leaked press stories stating government are about to announce a £250 cap. As you know this isn't good enough.

I feel icky amplifying this sector disinformation being pumped out across SW1 websites.

But the Residential Freehold Association must be held to account.

It is a nonsense to suggest freeholders - who only own 2.5% capital value in a block - are vital for flat living. They don’t exist elsewhere!

Ending service charge abuse ultimately requires bringing the archaic and iniquitous leasehold system to an end.

With the Tories having failed to do so, ministers must at least act now to protect leaseholders and shared owners from the excessive demands so many are being served.

Build a new home. Sell the lease for £200,000 to a buyer who thinks they have true home ownership but sell the actual ownership deeds for £2000 to an 'investor'. The householder spends a Lifetime paying off a loan and upkeeps the house. The real owner does absolutely nothing but
