Disproportionately more pensioners are financially impacted by the shitshow that is ground rent / leasehold than any who might see their pension fund investment fall by GR reform. A morally questionable investment in someone else’s home. You won’t see that reported by @skynews

Where leasehold reform is concerned, they’re doing a spectacularly bad job at reassuring the public. Millions of leaseholder votes at stake and The Labour Party are rowing back on timescales for already long overdue change. Major policy speech from leadership needed 2 clarify situation.

Neither the Conservatives nor The Labour Party have done enough to win the hearts and minds of leaseholders.

Both are them are taking a huge gamble thinking this will not be an issue at the GE.

They forget: millions feel like financial hostages in their own homes. We have had enough.

This is critically important to millions of leaseholders who have been taken advantage of for yrs, in ever increasing scams. Successive govt’s of both colours have failed to tackle the injustice of LH. I don’t understand why Keir Starmer remains silent. This needs explaining ⬇️

Leaseholders, including shared owners, need more than protection.

We need control of the homes we bought.

We must be able to easily fire rip-off agents and vote on service charge budgets. Transparency is inadequate.

Matthew Pennycook MP With respect Matthew the last thing we need is yet more talk. Leasehold has to go. People who pay 4 homes must own & control them. We set service charge budgets. We hire & 🔥 managing agents. Yr party ducked this in 2002. Millions more plunged into leasehold misery as a result.

The only crime here, is that the incumbent government choose to allow homelessness to be a thing. They could act, but do not. This proposed bill is pointless, inhumane and disgusting.

Honestly, f#*k this government. So out of touch it lets citizens be mugged every quarter for no reason whilst lending institutions label that practice as financial risk. The system is broken. People are trapped. The rich just get richer. This has sod all to do with pensioners.

Forefeiture it utterly immoral Michael Gove. Even if rarely used, it’s the ultimate bullying tool. Why should anyone have the right to seize your property and its entire equity over a debt of a few hundred pounds. The fact that the LHFR bill does not address this is astounding.

Lost my lovely mum over 10 years ago but there are still times where I really could do with her compassion and wisdom, last few weeks being no exception. For those who can’t be with or chat to their loved one today, my heart is with you. Thinking of one friend in particular ❤️
