More funding urgently needed for life-saving humanitarian assistance. Norway will step up our funding for UNRWA.

Important talk with my friend FM Shoukry Egypt MFA Spokesperson about #Gaza , urgency of vital humanitarian access, how to use donor group #AHLC in this situation, and need for political horizon.

The situation in Gaza is already dire and getting worse by the hour. Civilians must be protected.

I just spoke with Israel’s Foreign Minister Eli Cohen. I told him about the the moving memorial ceremony I attended last night at the Synagogue in Oslo.

I repeated the importance of humanitarian access to Gaza, and asked for his help in getting Norwegian citizens out of Gaza.

I join warnings by António Guterres and Josep Borrell Fontelles about the danger of a mass movement of people inside Gaza.

International humanitarian law must be respected.

Humanitarian access must be ensured.

And civilians must be protected and never used as shields.

Talked with EUs @JosephBorrellF about the horrifying terror attacks by Hamas which have shocked the world to its core.
We must now prioritize the protection of civilians and ensure humanitarian aid to those in need.

Just got off the phone with Egypt’s FM Sameh Shoukry. Expressed Norway’s condemnation of Hamas horrific attacks on Israeli civilians.

Agreed that innocent people should not suffer as a result. Humanitarian aid is essential. Egypt plays a key role in ensuring de-escalation.

I congratulate Narges Mohammadi with the Nobel Peace Prize for 2023. She continues her courageous and steadfast fight for women’s rights, even at the cost of her own freedom.

Warm congratulations to Wopke Hoekstra on the appointment as new EU Commissioner for Climate Action, a key role in addressing one of our most pressing challenges. ✅

Norway looks forward to working with you towards achieving our climate goals.
