@13sarahmurphy

welcome to my echo chamber - if you’re thoughtful, interesting, entertaining, open-minded.... otherwise, tbh, you’re not that welcome.

Every single politician, academic, journalist, peer or other member of “the establishment” who advocated for Brexit should never be listened to again. This was blindingly obvious.

Hunt and Sunak doing victory laps around a couple of foundation stones placed in the rubble of the house they destroyed…
Enraging.
Unprecedented child poverty. Sinking living standards. Public services broken by Tory greed and idiocy.
Be quiet about your godforsaken ‘plan’.

Someone responsible for hemming us in, putting up barriers, removing our rights, limiting our choices, making us poorer and dividing the country…
Someone who calls for us to leave the ECHR…
Someone we can’t vote out.

What an objectionably stupid and pompous little man.

‘Brexit means you’ll be able to hold your own politicians to account’…
except it’ll all be such an almighty screw up, ushering in the worst, most dishonest politics of our lives, that loads of them will do a runner rather than take that risk…

Watch out the rest of you though…

Labour should have made Natalie Elphicke go and live on the Bibby Stockholm while they procesed her application.

Tories wheel out Braverman, Jenrick and Stride to repeat their threats to immigrants and benefits claimants. Showcasing their viciousness in reaction to their election drubbing. Refusing to understand they repel far more than they delight with their manifesto of hatred and blame.

Letters from Times readers who see the Tory electoral meltdown for what it is…
No mention of Sunak’s ‘plan’ or sense that he’s delivering anything but dissatisfaction… instead, anger about what these dismals have inflicted on us and why they will absolutely pay for it in votes.

The *only* thing you Rishi Sunak can possibly ‘deliver’ now that is what we also want is a general election.
Everything else you do is just more disgraceful, damaging, culture-war failure.
Nothing good. Nothing decent. Nothing hopeful.
For god’s sake go.

🚨NOT NEW: The British people tell Sunak they’ve had enough and the Tories face electoral wipeout. Sunak laughably claims that not voting Tory would be a “disaster for Britain”

Yeah. As opposed to the raging catastrofuck (aka ‘plan’) the Tories have inflicted on us over 14yrs.

Here's what's gone wrong for the Conservative party.

They didn't adopt austerity in 2010 because the economy needed it. They adopted it because it allowed them to do an ideological shrinkage of the state, while blaming Labour. Austerity wasn't economics, it was pure politics.

Hate, hate and more hate… prejudice…Brexit lies… leaving the ECHR… sending people to Rwanda… breaking international law… punching down to give the bigots a quick thrill… govt videos of arresting asylum seekers…
It’s not a plan. It’s Tory failure shouting at us every day.

Sunak,
The economy may improve v slightly. You may get one of your nasty flights off to Rwanda. You may cut immigration by starving our care homes of staff. You may offer a tax cut…
but NOTHING now will save you.
The country is tired, broken and sick of you. Call the election.

It’s very hard for a right wing media accustomed to framing the national debate through a Tory prism to come to terms with how detested the Tory party now is - exposed in these election results. It is detached from the electorate and has forfeited the right to govern. Period.

Should’ve kept the faith. If you’re predicting a win on the basis of hoping no one bothered showing up to vote, you’re very far from having it nailed down. You basically know your candidate was shit and your campaign was shit. Bye bye Susan Hall.
Thank you London. Well done Khan.

This is a glorious letter from Tim Bale on the Tories clinging desperately on to Houchen as their life raft in the raging electoral storm.

14yrs. Total fucking disaster of underinvestment, incompetence, corruption and outright damage. Polling and elections that tell them it’s over and *still* the Tories say their ‘plan’ is working and they should get to stay. Staggering entitlement in the face of their own failure.
