Pretty sure calling junior doctors “doctors in training” is one of the things on the day one health ministry flashcards, with a huge red cross through it and a sad face next to it. Absolutely, monumentally, stupid and self-defeating.

I agree with Neil O'Brien that high standards in data presentation and communication are important. Unfortunately, it seems he does not always apply the same standards to his own communication of data and evidence. Some examples follow

A pox on the algorithm-driven marketing strategy that selects only movie trailers from the same genre as the film you've gone to see. I miss the days when it was a randomised selection-box of future treats, recognising that cinema-goers have wide tastes.

I did a feature about playing Doom on a LAN while working for Big Red Software in 1994. Thanks again to John Romero 🤘🏽 and Dave Taylor and my old colleagues Jon Cartwright and R. Fred Williams - for patiently answering my many questions!

This is without question one of the most intelligent and unique crime novels I’ve ever read. It’s going to be everywhere on the awards lists. It’s also incredibly fun and moving.

Look forward to discussing this on a BBC programme- any programme - hopefully with a BBC big cheese who could tell me where I’m wrong

How gorgeous is this? First look at the cover of The Cracked Mirror, coming next summer. I think it might be my best book.

Gotta think £240m would pay for a lot of staff and infrastructure to more swiftly process asylum claims and thus save on accommodation and subsistence. It's almost as if the cruelty is the point.

My book A History Of Heavy Metal makes a great present for a friend who loves heavy metal, or an enemy who loves Mötley Crüe.

So I have had a reply from the acting chair of the BBC about Robbie Gibb and his attempt to fix the chair of the BBC regulator. Highlighted in red are the bits where she answers a single one of the 15 question I asked (joke: she doesn’t) 1/4
